The time will pass anyway. Whether you do it now or later, you'll get there.

We overthink too much sometimes. Sometimes we need to take the leap and just do it.
Rather than stay stuck doing nothing at all, sometimes we need to prioritise taking action and making the decisions we need to make.
When you're feeling unsure or uncertain about doing something, or delaying something and waiting for the "right" or "perfect" time to do it, there's a new perspective we can think about:
The time will pass anyway.
There's no right or perfect time. There's just time.
We contemplate the things we want to do and go back and forth on if we should do it now or later, today or next week. Next week or next month. But then months become years, and years pass by, and we wonder where the time went.
And the thing we were trying to decide on whether to do or not, suddenly reaches the time in that if you had started that day, you would've been done by now, or on your way to completion in your current progression.
And sometimes, that moment comes and we still contemplate if we should start now or later.
Even if thoughts pass by of wishing you had started sooner.
We begin that thinking process again with the same choices to make. And we are suddenly brought back to the beginning of it all over again.
Do you take the action now and stop delaying it any further? Or do you freeze in not being able to make the decisions, and let time pass by some more?
Whether you choose to do something now or in five years' time, think about where you want to be in the duration of that period, in the time that passes.
You'll still get there - to that same place, goal, or direction, if you follow the same path or steps or processes.
Changing your career path and pivoting to a new one, or studying a degree for a particular pathway - it all takes time.
But the time is all the same and it is up to you on what you choose to do with that time. Because in the end, it's all going to pass anyway.
This perspective makes you think about when you want to get there.
You can choose to pivot now and start at the beginning of a new career path - then in a few years' time, you'd be doing what was of interest to you and be on your way to gaining more experience. Or you can pivot later, a few years later, and then it will simply happen later down the line in a similar way - the time still passes either way, whenever you make that choice to action it.
Same goes for studying - you may be spending four to six years in university, depending on where you want to get to in a specific career pathway or job role. You can delay it or keep going. Or perhaps, you may have been working already and decide to start studying again.
Either way, the time will pass, and you will get to the stage you want to be at; when you get there, for however long it takes.
You could be contemplating going back to university to study further, going into a job you've always wanted to do, or starting a project you've been planning for - but you don't know whether you should do it now, next year, or wait a little longer.
Decisions, time, contemplations.
Whatever you choose - the time will pass anyway.
If you do it, you'll get there eventually; whether it's now or later.
"There's no getting it right, there's only getting it going."
You could do it now and in the next, let's say, three years later, you have the dream job you've been wanting to do. Or you could do that next year and then get that job a year later, taking four years instead. Or you could wait three years later to take the action, and the same scenario applies but you would get there in six years.
In all those options, the time still passes.
It's up to you when you decide to take the action that gets you there and how long you'll wait or let the time pass by before you do so.
There's another perspective we can take into consideration as well with the decisions we are wanting to make in such scenarios of life, that I would like to close this thought post on:
The longer you stay on the wrong train, the longer it takes for you to get home and the more expensive the return trip will be.
If you're worrying about the decisions or choices you need to make for your life in the present of now, what is it that you're contemplating on?
Is it something that brings up emotions and feelings of fear? Uncertainty? Worry?
How big is this decision for the direction you take in the journey of your life?
This is a gentle reminder that if you're delaying the action because of the fear of making the wrong choice to do something, please remember that there are no wrong decisions. There are no wrong choices. There is only a choice or decision, and whatever happens next, is where you'll adapt and make it work - for yourself and your life, as the resilient human being that you are.
This could go into a whole new conversation alone, but let's think of this reminder where it resonates, depending on your situation and life currently.
Sometimes it's better to get off at the next station and then go from there to where you know you need to go; where you want to go; in order to live your life happily and with no regrets for yourself when you have the ability to do so.
It's the time now or later.
What's it going to be for you?
Sincerely,
SWO
